Nominations Sought for 2010 Community Improvement Awards

Nominations are being sought for the sixth annual Huntingdon County Community Improvement Award, recognizing excellence in development. Eligible for the award are new construction or substantial rehabilitation of buildings, subdivisions and land developments. Projects nominated may be residential, commercial or public/non-profit. The award is jointly sponsored by the Huntingdon County Planning Commission and the Huntingdon County Chamber of Commerce, with financial support from Kish Bank.

Previous award winners include Allegrippis Trails, Stone Church of the Brethren, Huntingdon Chapter Habitat for Humanity, Greater Broad Top Park and Recreation Association, and Standing Stone Coffee Company.

Nominations are being sought for the fifth annual Huntingdon County Community Improvement Award, recognizing excellence in development. Eligible for the award are new construction or substantial rehabilitation of buildings, subdivisions and land developments. Projects nominated may be residential, commercial or public/non-profit. The award is presented by the Huntingdon County Planning Commission and the Huntingdon County Chamber of Commerce, with sponsorship by Kish Bank

The award program seeks to recognize excellence in development based on both visual or design elements and environmental impact of the project. Judges will focus on enhancement of the attractiveness of Huntingdon County , compatibility with the site and environment, creativity in design, innovation, and enhancement in the quality of life. Finally, projects will be rated on the basis of sustainability.
