July 1st, 2010Last evening, the General Assembly adopted a state budget for the 2010-11 fiscal year, the first time since Gov. Ed Rendell took office that the budget was approved by the June 30 deadline.
The $28.05 billion budget was adopted without broad-based tax increases, as lawmakers rejected new taxes on smokeless tobacco and cigars, as well as the implementation of combined reporting, which would have been a tax increase for many Pennsylvania businesses. The governor
Energy Savings for All Size Businesses
June 15th, 2010ChamberChoice and OnDemand continue to receive positive feedback from chamber members about the guaranteed savings program. They took this feedback to FirstEnergy Solutions in hopes of negotiating a deadline extension. The negotiations were successful and the guaranteed savings program deadline is now June 30, 2010. The allotment of this discounted power is only available through June 30.

Last Chance to Register to Meet With Large Businesses
April 20th, 2010In order to encourage local buying, the Chamber has planned a “Business Connection” program aimed at bringing local buyers and sellers together. This event is the perfect opportunity for large businesses to meet with sales representatives without the hassle of scheduling long meetings that interfere with daily activities.
Reservations are currently being taken for sales representatives who will meet one-on-one with representatives from selected businesses to discuss purchasing needs. This will introduce purchasers to suppliers – in their own back yard – who may offer better products and pricing than currently received.
Holiday Open House at the Raystown Lake Region Visitors Center
November 24th, 2009December 9, 1-8 p.m.
The Huntingdon County Visitors Bureau is partnering with Huntingdon County United Way, the US Army Corps of Engineers, The Friends of Raystown Lake, JB Tree Farms, local groups and the member businesses of the Huntingdon County Visitors Bureau to hold an open house at the Raystown Lake Region Visitors Center on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 from 1-8 p.m.
In the true spirit of the season, they will be asking the community to help decorate a money tree in support of the Huntingdon County United Way annual fundraising campaign. They hope to collect $1,000 or more to donate to United Way by trimming the Christmas tree donated by JB Tree Farms.
