A workshop on “Preserving Old Houses” is being organized by the Huntingdon County Chamber of Commerce Main Street/Community Improvement Committee in cooperation with the Huntingdon County Historical Society and Huntingdon County Planning and Development Department. Scheduled for February 9, 2011 at 6:30 PM, the workshop will focus on the conservation of older homes and the preservation of design elements which enhance the value of these homes. According to Main Street /Community Improvement Committee Chair, Richard Stahl, the workshop should be valuable to building contractors and home owners, particularly those planning major home remodeling projects.

November 5th, 2010Nominations are being sought for the sixth annual Huntingdon County Community Improvement Award, recognizing excellence in development. Eligible for the award are new construction or substantial rehabilitation of buildings, subdivisions and land developments. Projects nominated may be residential, commercial or public/non-profit. The award is jointly sponsored by the Huntingdon County Planning Commission and the Huntingdon County Chamber of Commerce, with financial support from Kish Bank.
Previous award winners include Allegrippis Trails, Stone Church of the Brethren, Huntingdon Chapter Habitat for Humanity, Greater Broad Top Park and Recreation Association, and Standing Stone Coffee Company.
