January 27 “State of the County” Address

The Huntingdon County Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Coffee Connection featuring the “State of the County” Address on Thursday, January 27, 2011 from 7:45-9:00 a.m. at the Huntingdon Country Club.

Huntingdon County Commissioners Connie Kough Pittenger and William Hoover will update attendees on Huntingdon County activities and plans. Commissioner Dean Fluke has not confirmed his participation.  A brief question and answer period will follow the Commissioners’ remarks.

This Coffee Connection is sponsored by Penn Highlands Community College. PHCC President, Dr. Walter Asonevich will give a brief update on the Huntingdon County Campus. 

JC Blair Company Care Business After Hours

The Huntingdon County Chamber of Commerce is hosting its first Business After Hours event of 2011 at  J. C. Blair Memorial Hospital as they offer a look into their new Company Care Occupational Health Program which is a comprehensive occupational health program offered to all area employers. The program is designed to give employers more control over workers’ compensation costs and help ensure that minimal employee time is lost. They also offer a variety of employee health services to keep your workforce healthy.

Preserving Old Houses: A Timely Idea

 A workshop on “Preserving Old Houses” is being organized by the Huntingdon County Chamber of Commerce Main Street/Community Improvement Committee in cooperation with the Huntingdon County Historical Society and Huntingdon County Planning and Development Department.  Scheduled for February 9, 2011 at 6:30 PM, the workshop will focus on the conservation of older homes and the preservation of design elements which enhance the value of these homes. According to Main Street /Community Improvement Committee Chair, Richard Stahl, the workshop should be valuable to building contractors and home owners, particularly those planning major home remodeling projects. 

Last Chance to Register to Meet With Large Businesses

In order to encourage local buying, the Chamber has planned a “Business Connection” program aimed at bringing local buyers and sellers together. This event is the perfect opportunity for large businesses to meet with sales representatives without the hassle of scheduling long meetings that interfere with daily activities.

Reservations are currently being taken for sales representatives who will meet one-on-one with representatives from selected businesses to discuss purchasing needs. This will introduce purchasers to suppliers – in their own back yard – who may offer better products and pricing than currently received.

4th Annual Chamber & Comfort Inn Open Golf Tournament

April 15th, 2010

The 4th Annual Huntingdon County Chamber of Commerce & Comfort Inn Open Golf Tournament will take place on Wednesday, June 16th, rain or shine, at the Huntingdon Country Club on Raystown Road, Route 26 South.

SHED RAFFLE TICKETS AVAILABLE FOR SALE via Mail

An 8′ x 10′ shed constructed by the building trades students at the Huntingdon County Career & Technology Center will be raffled off at the Raystown Lake Region Home & Garden Show on March 21 at 4 pm. All proceeds (over the cost of materials) will be donated to Huntingdon County Habitat for Humanity. The Huntingdon County Builder’s Association will accept raffle ticket sales via email. They will send you the ticket stubs and bill you for your raffle tickets. ORDERS MUST BE IN BY March 18. Tickets are $5 each. The value of the shed is about $1500. Winner is responsible for transporting the shed to their property or paying for delivery.
