The Stone Church of the Brethren received a Community Improvement Award in the Public/Non-profit Category. Sustainably produced materials were used and construction debris was recycled in this project which set out to provide handicapped accessibility to this 1915 church.

The project provided  accessible entries on the basement and first floor levels.  Restrooms on each floor were made accessible and a lift between the basement and first floor was installed.  The bell tower entrance received major renovation with the addition of new lighting and higher ceiling.

Sponsored bythe Huntingdon County Planning Commission, County Chamber and Kish Bank, the winners of the 5th Annual Community Improvement Award were announced at the HCPC Annual Meeting March 10, 2009.
