Nominations are being sought for the fifth annual Huntingdon County Community Improvement Award, recognizing excellence in development. Eligible for the award are new construction or substantial rehabilitation of buildings, subdivisions and land developments. Projects nominated may be residential, commercial or public/non-profit. The award is presented by the Huntingdon County Planning Commission and the Huntingdon County Chamber of Commerce, with sponsorship by Kish Bank
The award program seeks to recognize excellence in development based on both visual or design elements and environmental impact of the project. Judges will focus on enhancement of the attractiveness of Huntingdon County , compatibility with the site and environment, creativity in design, innovation, and enhancement in the quality of life. Finally, projects will be rated on the basis of sustainability.
Nominations are due at the Chamber office by January 29, 2010 with awards being presented at the Huntingdon County Planning Commission













The Chamber has received two Community Improvement Award nominations to date, the Alligrippis Trail Project, the AMTRAK Station Beautification Project. More nominations are needed before the end of January.

The Chamber and Planning Commission have received ten nominations for the Community Improvement Award for 2009. These will be evaluated by the Huntingdon County Planning Commission at their February 17th meeting.
